Abstract

Introduction: Training professionals from public and private elementary schools and children's recreation facilities on basic first aid has become mandatory since the creation of the Lucas Law (Law No. 13,722/2018). The law ensures that educators and caregivers know how to act quickly in emergency situations, avoiding similar tragedies. The implementation of the Lucas Law represents an advance in child safety, promoting greater preparation of educational institutions to act in emergency situations. Objective: To report the experiences lived by resilient health professionals from the Women's and Children's Health Program. Material and methods: This is a descriptive study of the experience report type about the experiences in the extension project “Santa Casa nas Escolas” in actions carried out in the months of April and September 2024. Results and conclusion: Training was carried out for the team at the Fundação Santa Casa de Misericórdia institution in the realistic simulation laboratory to train professionals. After this stage, the actions were carried out in state schools in the state of Pará, elementary and high school. Topics such as choking maneuvers, syncope and cardiopulmonary resuscitation are covered, with demonstrations using realistic dolls. The course ends with the clarification of doubts. In this way, the importance of including teaching first aid techniques in the school curriculum is highlighted, as it is essential to save lives and to form safer citizens who are capable of intervening in these emergency situations. In addition, it contributes to the development and technical improvement of the skills and competencies of the professionals involved.
