Purpose: Characterize the epidemiological profile of patients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Methods: This is an observational, transversal and descriptive study, and was carried out between September 2018 and February 2019, after approval by the Ethics Research Committee (number 3.180.298). Data was collected from medical records of one hundred ASD patients attended at the Specialized Center for Rehabilitation (SCR), from which data was collected to determine the epidemiological profile according to gender, age, education level, medication use and presented comorbidities, such as neurological or genetic diseases. All patients diagnosed with ASD since March 2016 until January 2019 were included in the study. Results: The analysis of medical records showed that 23% of patients were female and 77% male. The main age group was 5 to 8 years (44%). The majority was in Elementary School (49%), whilst 18% did not attend school. Prevalent comorbidities were Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) (11%), intellectual disability (11%) and hearing impairment (9%). Regarding medication use, 46% were in use of Risperidone, while 40% did not use any medication. Conclusion: the authors have found predominance of male individuals, aged 5 to 8 years, in Elementary School, who present as most frequent comorbidities ADHD, intellectual disability and hearing impairment, and who are use of Risperidone.
