Trypanosoma cruzi is the causative agent of Chagas disease, a significant parasitic illness that affects millions of people, especially in Latin America. The state of Pará, in Brazil, has favorable conditions for disease transmission and leads the country in the number of reported cases. This study analyzed the geographic distribution and population dynamics of Chagas disease in Pará between 2019 and 2023, using SINAN data to identify epidemiological patterns and risk areas.
The analysis of these data reinforces the importance of prevention and control strategies for Chagas disease in the state, particularly in inland regions and among the most vulnerable groups. The study highlights the need for government actions to strengthen monitoring, promote awareness campaigns, and ultimately reduce the incidence of the disease in the population.
