Introduction: High energy consumption in hospitals represents both a financial and environmental challenge. In Pará, where dependence on fossil fuels is still significant, the adoption of sustainable solutions, such as solar energy, can reduce operating costs and mitigate ecological impacts, in line with global sustainability guidelines. Objective: To report the experience of implementing a solar energy system in a university hospital in Pará and its economic and environmental impacts. Material and Methods: The study was conducted in a teaching hospital in Pará that implemented photovoltaic panels to supply strategic sectors. Indicators of electrical consumption before and after the intervention were analyzed, as well as the perception of managers regarding the benefits of the change. Results and Conclusion: There was a significant reduction in electrical energy costs, in addition to environmental gains, with lower carbon emissions. The initiative demonstrated economic viability and a positive impact on hospital management, serving as a model for other institutions in Pará. It is concluded that the adoption of renewable energy in the health sector in Pará is a promising path towards sustainability and recognition.
