Epidemiological profile of acute Chagas Disease in the State of Pará between 2010 and 2017

Purpose: To describe the epidemiological profile of Acute Chagas’ Disease (ACD) in the State of Pará between 2010 and 2017. Methods: Data from confirmed cases of ACD in the State of Pará between 2010 and 2017, reported in the Information System and Notification Improvements were collected. Results: There were 1,515 confirmed cases of ACD, with a predominance of the disease among men, aged 20-39 years. Of the total, 75.84% had oral infection as the probable mode of infection. In the evolution of the disease, 88.77% were still alive. A high incidence of ACD has been observed in recent years, although the acute phase of the disease usually goes unnoticed, a fact that leads to underreporting of the disease. Conclusion: The epidemiological profile of the studied area is an adult male. Knowledge of the epidemiological profile is important to generate information to create measures to prevent disease and increase early diagnosis.
