Abstract

ABSTRACT

Purpose: To characterize the epidemiological profile of mild to moderate cases of COVID-19 confirmed through influenza-like illness surveillance in the state of Pará, northern Brazil. Methods: Descriptive research, in a secondary database on cases of COVID-19 in the State of Pará, until August 15, 2020. Results: 99,687 cases were recorded, including 2,130 deaths. Regarding age and gender (p<0,05), females between 10 and 69 years old predominated and males before 10 and over 70 years of age. Furthermore, more deaths were attributed to men. As for the Health Regions, Rio Caetés (5,44) had the highest record. Conclusion: It is inferred that biological variables inherent to sex, age and health regions play an important role in the infection and pathogenesis of COVID-19.
